On October 19, 2020, Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL) and Edda Systems signed a contract for delivery of the eCoach 3D TWR simulator system to Inverness, Scotland. Some of HIAL’s objectives for the simulator were to:

deliver approach radar training.

carry out research and development to support the introduction of remote aerodrome control at five HIAL airports.

contribute to HIAL’s environmental objectives, including HIAL’s objective to work in partnership with Scottish Government to create the world’s first zero emission aviation region.
Special features were introduced in the eCoach simulator to enable HIAL’s Remote Tower research activities. The system was set up in Norway utilizing the eCoach Cloud Server Solution which will enable integrated training of personnel located on remote locations with personnel located in central training facilities.
After FAT and shipping, HIAL installed the system in Inverness and performed SAT. The system was SAT Approved by January 2021. The delivery project was successfully conducted without any travel or physical meetings - due to the Covid-19 restrictions in force.
